The Resource Center houses one of the largest collections of covered bridge models in the world. These models, in various sizes and many to actual scale, are small-scale representations of real structures found throughout the United States.
Our collection began at the time of the Center’s founding, when we were gifted 12 models from the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges. Since then, we have amassed 32 models in total with many thanks to Mike Musante’s donations, each demonstrating the elegance of their respective bridges.
The models, a few of which are shown here, are not solely for looking at. Each construction features a particular truss type, which makes the smaller scale design perfect for educational purposes as well. You can learn more about truss types here. (add link to resources page here.) The models are also available for viewing at our on-site location in Oxford, New York.
